Ho. Lee. Moley. This week Baby is getting fingerprints!! I don't even have words to describe how awesome/cute/sweet/amazing/etcetcetc that is!!!!! Fingerprints?!?! That means the little hands are fully developed and Baby is growing its very own identity that is unique to Baby and no one else! I really can't even tell you how that makes me feel....I just want to cry, it's so amazing! With every week that goes by, this little person comes closer and closer to being fully formed and ready to live in this world. You may think, well duh Erin! But, the perspective is totally different when that little person is growing inside of ME! I can still hardly comprehend that concept!!!
Also this week: Vocal cords are developing (aww, will Baby sing with Mommy??? I sure hope so :-D ). Baby is the size of a peach this week, so in honor of that, I am getting my dad to make his famous peach cobbler! Bones are developing in the arms and legs (how cool!). Intestines are moving into the correct place (kind of gross, but still cool, lol). Baby may be able to suck its thumb, which is not surprising after last week's ultrasound. In all of the pictures, Baby has its arms up at its head, so it wouldn't surprise me if the thumb made it into the mouth :-).
Me this week: This has been a bit of a rough week for me. I haven't been feeling well at all. My stomach has given me fits this week, and I have been pretty dizzy. I am getting through it though, and still loving every minute of it because I know that all of this is going to help bring my baby safely into this world. If I can just make it another week or 2, I will be feeling good a whole lot more often! Yay!
Update: I had my 1st trimester screening last week (that's what the ultrasound was technically for). The u/s tech said that she didn't see any problems. She found the nose bone, which is great because down syndrome babies usually are missing their nose bone. She measured the fluid against the back of the neck and she said it was the thinnest possible to even measure! I was a little alarmed for a moment, so I asked if that was good or bad, and she said the thinner the better, so I was pretty proud. My little one is doing it right already :-) Lol...She also sent off all of her findings to a lab as well as some blood from me, but I had not even thought about when I would hear about the results. I was also not even worried about it at all, since she was so confident that it was good; it didn't even cross my mind to worry! Well, this morning the doctor called and said he had the results and wasn't sure if anyone had called me yet. No one had, so he told me that the tests all came back 100% normal!!! Even though I wasn't worried, it is still a relief to hear good news! Thank you, Jesus! (And thanks to all those who have been and continue to pray for us!)
Well, I think that's all I've got for today! Hope everybody has a great and fantastic day :-D
(Just noticed, there's a lot of exclamation points in this post, lol)
